discord- disagreement (the opposite of concord)

The Yin Yang sign stands for harmony and peace.

repudiate- to reject; to deny
The little boy decided to repudiate the other little girl.

diligent- hardworking
The janitor is a very diligent man.
Antonym for diligent: indifferent
The man was on vacation and was indifferent to working at all.

superficial- on the surface only; shallow; not thorough
The Public Library has many superficial magazines.
Antonym for superficial: analytical
Shakespeare created many analytical plays in his time.

contempt- reproachful disdain
My boss has much contempt for almost all my decisions.
Antonym for contempt: admiration
The little boy held  much admiration for the professional basketball player.

lucid- clear; easy to understand
The girl had a lucid dream that she was falling from the sky.
Antonym for lucid: obscure

aesthetic- having to do with artistic beauty; artistic (not to be confused with ascetic, also on the Hit Parade)
The artist created an aesthetic piece of artwork.
Antonym for aesthetic: ugly
The artists' ugly interpretation of the queen angered many loyal citizens.


prodigal- extravagant; wasteful
The prodigal family of five wasted money on frivolous items. 
Antonym for prodigal: thrifty 
The impoverished family was thrifty with their money.
